Short movie reviews

So far 6 movies from my list have past and I intend to review.

Stop-Loss
I didn't see this movie. I chose not to at last minute. I'll be back with a review when it is on pay-per-view. We get it free...shhh!

21
I liked 21, it was okay. Jim Sturgess is pretty fine! lol and so was Kate Bosworth. It was slightly suspenseful. I honestly, and sadly, did not see the ending coming. My aunt and uncle did. Well it was a surprise to me. I wouldn't watch it again though because it just wouldn't be interesting. Wasn't funny, but was somewhat entertaining. I enjoyed the klepto Asian guy, he was funny.

College
College has been postponed to August 29, 2008.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I loved it. It was funny, no too many memorable gags though. But I loved the all characters, Hawaiian views, jokes, breakup, sex wars, Muppet-type Dracula song,... WORTHY, definitely buying it on DVD.

Baby Mama
Amy Poehler was funny and I think she was the only thing I liked about this movie. Tina was boring...and so was everyone else.

Maid of Honor
Did not watch because too many dud reviews.

Sex and the City: The Movie
Came out tonight. Hope to see this with the gals all dressed up tonight. Maybe dinner before. Can you say girls night out? I can. Woot Woot. I love my girls! Tell you about it later...

Freak accidents && ELABORATE setups!

This week a couple acquaintances have made the news and I wish they hadn't. Its not great news at all. Took one life and possibly ruin the other's.

Well on Saturday May 24, 2008 a helicopter crashed killing 3 and injuring 3. Of the 3 killed, was Johnny Terry. A family friend. He was so young. Rest in peace.

Also, on Tuesday May 27, 2008 my former high school Sunny Hills has received some unwanted attention when Coach Abbott was arrested with an unload gun in his car on campus. Police searched his car after an ANONYMOUS tipster called stating that Abbott sold them drugs. Also found in his car was a small amount of marijuana and prescription drugs packaged intended to sale. But he has recently been freed of ALL charges because it was all just an "elaborate setup" and have his ex-wife as a person of interest. Bitches be crazy!
When I went to Sunny Hills, Abbott's wife cheated on him with his fellow coach Wellen! That was drama, now this...I wish him luck, his reputation could have been ruined.

He even made Perez Hilton!!! Crazy.

Tucson, Arizona

So I went to Tucson, Arizona from - 4/15 to 4/30

It was so much fun. I didn't want to come home, but I had to. I stayed at my great aunt Deb & Dan's house. It is beautiful! The house is huge! I slept in my choice of guest rooms. Comfiest bed I have ever slept in. I had half of the house all to myself. I was so peaceful. The weather was perfect. I heard it gets really bad and I made it just in time. I got my haircut
. I love it! Best haircut in a long time. I got bangs! I had a blast hanging out with older women. The Red Hats to be exact. Yes, thats right I had fun. I went to a zoo, a cave, Sabino Canyon, movies, malls, bingo (lol), University of Arizona, Phoenix ... My aunt said if I go to U of A, I can stay with her. I would love that, just a couple problems. I don't like extreme heat, no amusement parks, my boyfriend and best friends. We will see. I still haven't completely thrown the idea away.

My favorite was the Reid Park Zoo, of course.

Otters
One of my favorite animals, they are so adorable. I even bought a beanbag otter at the gift shop. I need a name for her...

Gibbons
It was fun watching them swing around. The two of the right were so cute. They started cleaning each other.

Mandrill
This guy was well unique. Definitely different than anything I've seen. I like how he is colorful. We had a staring contest. I was creeped out. I bet I looked appetizing to him.

I don't know his/her name. In the Aviary. Had a huge beak though.

Flamingo
There were about 15 flamingo and because of my finger, only one came out. Oops my bad. This is the best I did to cut out my finger. They were trippy though, sleeping on one foot with its head tucked under its feathers.

♥ Polar Bear ♥
Such a show off. Huge paws.

Lion Tailed Macaque
My finger came out in a lot of pictures. This guy was pretty cool. Very photo friendly, when we came by he walked to us.

Bear
He was separated from his lover on the other side. It was hard to get a picture of him. Oh and that rail in the picture was burning hot.

African Lion
The other lion was too lazy to get in this picture, typical male (lol).

Llamas
I never realized how ugly they are. Ant eaters are uglier though!

Ostrich, Peacock, and Zebra
The birds are at the bottom left corner. The peacock was mean. He kept standing on the tortoise. It was hilarious though. Ostrich scare me. Evil birds. The zebra is in the back.

Zebra
See him/her now? They stayed there the whole time. Lame.

Elephant & I
30 seconds after this picture was taken he went poo. I'm assuming its a guy.

IM BACK! Movie Nights

Hey! Been a while, but I'm back...
Well one of my favorite things to do is going to the movies with friends. I LOVE movies! I began looking up movies coming out in 2008, these looked interesting. I plan to see all these movies in theater and give a review on each one. They are listed in date order.

Okay, first I must say...I LOVE COMEDIES!!! Frat Pack, Black Humor, Romantic Comedies, Gross-Out, Apatow Productions...Second, it is still the beginning on the year, some of these movie dates could be wrong and also the movies towards the end of the year I know little about so I really can't make much of a judgment yet.

1. Stop-Loss (03/28)
After returning home after his duty, Iraqi war hero Sgt. Brandon King began to resume his old life with the help of his family, and best friend Steve Shriver, who served with him in Iraq. Against his will, the Army calls Brandon back to duty in Iraq via stop-loss policy. This conflict tests his family relationships, loyalty of friendship, value of honor, and limits of love.
I'm curious to see this one because of all that's going on in the world. Also, many of my male friends have suddenly enlisted in the military and Stop-Loss reminds me of all of them. Btw, I would like to say that I am proud of each one of them and wish them all the best of luck.

2. 21 (03/28)
Ben Campbell is an MIT student who – needing to pay school tuition – finds answers in counting cards. He amazes his professor, Mickey Rosa and is recruited to join a group of mathematically-gifted students that heads to Las Vegas every weekend with fake identities and the know-how to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signs and signals, the team can beat the casinos. Drawn by the money, the Vegas lifestyle, and his teammate, Jill Taylor, Ben begins to push the limits. Though counting cards isn’t illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos' menacing enforcer, Cole Williams.
I remember watching a discovery channel documentary on these guys; I was so fascinated with how they counted cards and learned and everything. I was stoked when I found out about the movie. When I saw the commercial, I instantly knew that it was about the MIT Blackjack team.

3. College (04/11)
After Kevin, a high school senior, gets dumped by his girlfriend for being too boring, he doesn’t want to go to the freshman orientation weekend at Fairmont University, where they had planned to go together. But his best friends Cater and Morris convince him that the weekend away will help get his mind off her. Once there, one of the rowdiest fraternities on campus decides to recruit them as “pledges” in return for granting them access to the college party scene. Though forced to put up with the disgusting antics of fraternity brothers Teague, Bearcat, and Cooper, the guys meet sorority girls Kendall, Heather, and Amy, and sparks fly all around. But once Teague feels threatened by Kevin’s new relationship with Kendall, he takes the pre-frosh humiliation to a greater level, and the guys decide to fight back, pulling a huge prank that lands them on top.
"I tried smoking a tampon which i thought was a big fat joint...still got high." Enough said...

4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (04/18)
Struggling musician Peter Bretter has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall .While writing a muppet-type dracula musical, he's the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. Things take a twist when she breaks up with him, and Peter suddenly finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life. To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: Sarah and her tragically-hip, new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous, are staying at his hotel. As he torments himself with the reality of Sarah's new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel, a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world.
I'm a fan of Apatow movies and Jason Segel, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd are so hilarious! Looks awesome! I have a good feeling about this one. This is the movie I really really want to see this year.

5. Baby Mama (04/25)

Kate Holbrook, a successful single businesswoman, has put her career before her personal life. At the age of 37, she has finally decided to have a child on her own, but her plans change when she discovers she has only the slimmest chance of becoming pregnant. Instead, Kate gets a South Philly working girl, Angie Ostrowiski, to become a surrogate mom. When Angie becomes pregnant, Kate begins preparing for motherhood in her own typically driven fashion--until her surrogate shows up at her door with no place to live. As these polar opposites struggle together, they must also prepare for the upcoming birth of the baby.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, gotta love 'em. It looks funny. A scene that really stood out to me in the trailer was when Amy Poehler and Dax Shepard are talking to Tina Fey...
Shepard : "When I first thought about Angie [Poehler] carrying somebody else baby, I thought my wife gotta have sex with someone else's husband to do this..."
Then at the same time Poehler says "Out of the question" and Shepard says "That's gonna cost you extra to do this......that's out of the question" HAHAHA...

6. Maid of Honor (05/02)
For Tom, life is good: he’s sexy, successful, has great luck with the ladies, and knows he can always rely on Hannah, his delightful best friend and the one constant in his life. It’s the perfect setup until Hannah goes overseas to Scotland on a six-week business trip… and Tom is stunned to realize how empty his life is without her. He resolves that when she gets back, he’ll ask Hannah to marry him – but is floored when he learns that she has become engaged to a handsome and wealthy Scotsman and plans to move overseas. When Hannah asks Tom to be her “maid” of honor, he reluctantly agrees to fill the role…but only so he can attempt to woo Hannah and stop the wedding before it’s too late.
It looks very cute! It gave me a good laugh at the theaters.

7. Sex and the City: The Movie (05/30)
Carrie is getting carried away with wedding plans, prompting yet another break-up between her and Big. Miranda dealing with Steve having an affair. Charlotte becoming pregnant. Samantha still with Smith Jarrod. Now living in Los Angeles struggling with long term commitment and marriage. Louise came to New York to fall in love.
I love the show, hope I love the movie more. So far, I'm not that big about the new character. We'll see...

8. The Happening (06/13)
A paranoid thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel star as an estranged couple who must escape this apocalyptic epidemic.
Woo...Spooooky...Friday the 13th. I'm curious to know what is going on in the movie. It has got my attention.

9. Get Smart (06/20)
Film adaptation of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry's hit 1960s spy parody television show Get Smart.
Steve Carell is awesome. I love the movie's awkwardness. Can't wait for this one.

10. WALL-E (06/27)

A story of the last little robot on Earth. WALL-E is a robot and his programming was to help clean up. Set way in the future, through consumerism, rampant, unchecked consumerism, the Earth was covered with trash. And to clean up, everyone had to leave Earth and set in place millions of these little robots that went around to clean up the trash and make Earth habitable again. The cleanup program failed with the exception of this one little robot and he's left on Earth doing his duty all alone. But WALL-E falls in love with EVE, a robot from a probe that comes down to check on Earth.
It's a Disney movie...YAY! Robot Love.

11. Hancock (07/02)
An alcoholic superhero despised by everyone. A publicist helps rehabilitate him, and the superhero eventually begins an affair with the publicist's wife
About an alcoholic superhero that always messes things up. There is a scene where his publicist shows him a video that was posted on youtube. It is footage of a beach whale and Hancock shows up to save it. He grabs it by the tail and flings it out into the ocean. Well it just so happened that there was a boat and the whale landed on top of it.
Hancock: "I don't even remember that"
Publicist: "Greenpeace does"

12. Step Brothers (07/25)
Brennan Huff is a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback is a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that will finally get them out of the house.
Will Ferrell and John Reilly are such a funny pair. Must See!

13. He's Just Not That into You (08/01)
The Baltimore-set movie of interconnecting story arcs deals with the challenges of reading or misreading human behavior.
Okay, so I haven't seen a trailer to this one, but I love many of the actors, especially Drew Barrymore! It sounds like a cool idea for a movie.

14. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (08/08)
The Sequel of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants based on the fourth book.
I have read all four of the books. I love every single one of them. I know I'm a dork, but whatever. I've been waiting for this movie since I saw the first one.

15. Tropic Thunder (08/15)
A group of actors filming a Vietnam War movie when their fed-up director and writer decide to dump them in the middle of a real war.
Frat Pack!

16. Yes Man (12/19)
A man decides to say yes to everything that comes his way in his life, leading to a series of comedic events.
Sounds like a funny idea. Jim Carrey is great also.

17. Parental Guidance Suggested (2008)
A sketch comedy movie about the joys and embarrassments of teen sex. But mostly the embarrassments.
I want to see this because of Michael Cera, who I adore and also I like the teen sex comedies.

18. Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008)
19. Anaconda 3: The Offspring (2008)
20. Austin Powers 4 (11/14)
These movies because I have seen the first two and three.
