Short movie reviews

So far 6 movies from my list have past and I intend to review.

Stop-Loss
I didn't see this movie. I chose not to at last minute. I'll be back with a review when it is on pay-per-view. We get it free...shhh!

21
I liked 21, it was okay. Jim Sturgess is pretty fine! lol and so was Kate Bosworth. It was slightly suspenseful. I honestly, and sadly, did not see the ending coming. My aunt and uncle did. Well it was a surprise to me. I wouldn't watch it again though because it just wouldn't be interesting. Wasn't funny, but was somewhat entertaining. I enjoyed the klepto Asian guy, he was funny.

College
College has been postponed to August 29, 2008.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
I loved it. It was funny, no too many memorable gags though. But I loved the all characters, Hawaiian views, jokes, breakup, sex wars, Muppet-type Dracula song,... WORTHY, definitely buying it on DVD.

Baby Mama
Amy Poehler was funny and I think she was the only thing I liked about this movie. Tina was boring...and so was everyone else.

Maid of Honor
Did not watch because too many dud reviews.

Sex and the City: The Movie
Came out tonight. Hope to see this with the gals all dressed up tonight. Maybe dinner before. Can you say girls night out? I can. Woot Woot. I love my girls! Tell you about it later...

Freak accidents && ELABORATE setups!

This week a couple acquaintances have made the news and I wish they hadn't. Its not great news at all. Took one life and possibly ruin the other's.

Well on Saturday May 24, 2008 a helicopter crashed killing 3 and injuring 3. Of the 3 killed, was Johnny Terry. A family friend. He was so young. Rest in peace.

http://www.presstelegram.com/news/ci_9410310

Also, on Tuesday May 27, 2008 my former high school Sunny Hills has received some unwanted attention when Coach Abbott was arrested with an unload gun in his car on campus. Police searched his car after an ANONYMOUS tipster called stating that Abbott sold them drugs. Also found in his car was a small amount of marijuana and prescription drugs packaged intended to sale. But he has recently been freed of ALL charges because it was all just an "elaborate setup" and have his ex-wife as a person of interest. Bitches be crazy!
When I went to Sunny Hills, Abbott's wife cheated on him with his fellow coach Wellen! That was drama, now this...I wish him luck, his reputation could have been ruined.

He even made Perez Hilton!!! Crazy.

Tucson, Arizona

So I went to Tucson, Arizona from - 4/15 to 4/30

It was so much fun. I didn't want to come home, but I had to. I stayed at my great aunt Deb & Dan's house. It is beautiful! The house is huge! I slept in my choice of guest rooms. Comfiest bed I have ever slept in. I had half of the house all to myself. I was so peaceful. The weather was perfect. I heard it gets really bad and I made it just in time. I got my haircut
. I love it! Best haircut in a long time. I got bangs! I had a blast hanging out with older women. The Red Hats to be exact. Yes, thats right I had fun. I went to a zoo, a cave, Sabino Canyon, movies, malls, bingo (lol), University of Arizona, Phoenix ... My aunt said if I go to U of A, I can stay with her. I would love that, just a couple problems. I don't like extreme heat, no amusement parks, my boyfriend and best friends. We will see. I still haven't completely thrown the idea away.

My favorite was the Reid Park Zoo, of course.

Otters
One of my favorite animals, they are so adorable. I even bought a beanbag otter at the gift shop. I need a name for her...

Gibbons
It was fun watching them swing around. The two of the right were so cute. They started cleaning each other.

Mandrill
This guy was well unique. Definitely different than anything I've seen. I like how he is colorful. We had a staring contest. I was creeped out. I bet I looked appetizing to him.

I don't know his/her name. In the Aviary. Had a huge beak though.

Flamingo
There were about 15 flamingo and because of my finger, only one came out. Oops my bad. This is the best I did to cut out my finger. They were trippy though, sleeping on one foot with its head tucked under its feathers.

♥ Polar Bear ♥
Such a show off. Huge paws.

Lion Tailed Macaque
My finger came out in a lot of pictures. This guy was pretty cool. Very photo friendly, when we came by he walked to us.

Bear
He was separated from his lover on the other side. It was hard to get a picture of him. Oh and that rail in the picture was burning hot.

African Lion
The other lion was too lazy to get in this picture, typical male (lol).

Llamas
I never realized how ugly they are. Ant eaters are uglier though!

Ostrich, Peacock, and Zebra
The birds are at the bottom left corner. The peacock was mean. He kept standing on the tortoise. It was hilarious though. Ostrich scare me. Evil birds. The zebra is in the back.

Zebra
See him/her now? They stayed there the whole time. Lame.

Elephant & I
30 seconds after this picture was taken he went poo. I'm assuming its a guy.

IM BACK! Movie Nights

Hey! Been a while, but I'm back...
Well one of my favorite things to do is going to the movies with friends. I LOVE movies! I began looking up movies coming out in 2008, these looked interesting. I plan to see all these movies in theater and give a review on each one. They are listed in date order.

Okay, first I must say...I LOVE COMEDIES!!! Frat Pack, Black Humor, Romantic Comedies, Gross-Out, Apatow Productions...Second, it is still the beginning on the year, some of these movie dates could be wrong and also the movies towards the end of the year I know little about so I really can't make much of a judgment yet.

1. Stop-Loss (03/28)
After returning home after his duty, Iraqi war hero Sgt. Brandon King began to resume his old life with the help of his family, and best friend Steve Shriver, who served with him in Iraq. Against his will, the Army calls Brandon back to duty in Iraq via stop-loss policy. This conflict tests his family relationships, loyalty of friendship, value of honor, and limits of love.
I'm curious to see this one because of all that's going on in the world. Also, many of my male friends have suddenly enlisted in the military and Stop-Loss reminds me of all of them. Btw, I would like to say that I am proud of each one of them and wish them all the best of luck.

2. 21 (03/28)
Ben Campbell is an MIT student who – needing to pay school tuition – finds answers in counting cards. He amazes his professor, Mickey Rosa and is recruited to join a group of mathematically-gifted students that heads to Las Vegas every weekend with fake identities and the know-how to turn the odds at blackjack in their favor. By counting cards and employing an intricate system of signs and signals, the team can beat the casinos. Drawn by the money, the Vegas lifestyle, and his teammate, Jill Taylor, Ben begins to push the limits. Though counting cards isn’t illegal, the stakes are high, and the challenge becomes not only keeping the numbers straight, but staying one step ahead of the casinos' menacing enforcer, Cole Williams.
I remember watching a discovery channel documentary on these guys; I was so fascinated with how they counted cards and learned and everything. I was stoked when I found out about the movie. When I saw the commercial, I instantly knew that it was about the MIT Blackjack team.

3. College (04/11)
After Kevin, a high school senior, gets dumped by his girlfriend for being too boring, he doesn’t want to go to the freshman orientation weekend at Fairmont University, where they had planned to go together. But his best friends Cater and Morris convince him that the weekend away will help get his mind off her. Once there, one of the rowdiest fraternities on campus decides to recruit them as “pledges” in return for granting them access to the college party scene. Though forced to put up with the disgusting antics of fraternity brothers Teague, Bearcat, and Cooper, the guys meet sorority girls Kendall, Heather, and Amy, and sparks fly all around. But once Teague feels threatened by Kevin’s new relationship with Kendall, he takes the pre-frosh humiliation to a greater level, and the guys decide to fight back, pulling a huge prank that lands them on top.
"I tried smoking a tampon which i thought was a big fat joint...still got high." Enough said...

4. Forgetting Sarah Marshall (04/18)
Struggling musician Peter Bretter has spent six years idolizing his girlfriend, television star Sarah Marshall .While writing a muppet-type dracula musical, he's the guy left holding her purse in paparazzi photos and accidentally omitted from acceptance award speeches. Things take a twist when she breaks up with him, and Peter suddenly finds himself alone. After an unsuccessful bout of womanizing and an on-the-job nervous breakdown, he sees that not having Sarah may just ruin his life. To clear his head, Peter takes an impulsive trip to Oahu, where he is confronted by his worst nightmare: Sarah and her tragically-hip, new British-rocker boyfriend, Aldous, are staying at his hotel. As he torments himself with the reality of Sarah's new life, he finds relief in a flirtation with Rachel, a beautiful resort employee whose laid-back approach tempts him to rejoin the world.
I'm a fan of Apatow movies and Jason Segel, Bill Hader, Jonah Hill, Paul Rudd are so hilarious! Looks awesome! I have a good feeling about this one. This is the movie I really really want to see this year.

5. Baby Mama (04/25)

Kate Holbrook, a successful single businesswoman, has put her career before her personal life. At the age of 37, she has finally decided to have a child on her own, but her plans change when she discovers she has only the slimmest chance of becoming pregnant. Instead, Kate gets a South Philly working girl, Angie Ostrowiski, to become a surrogate mom. When Angie becomes pregnant, Kate begins preparing for motherhood in her own typically driven fashion--until her surrogate shows up at her door with no place to live. As these polar opposites struggle together, they must also prepare for the upcoming birth of the baby.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, gotta love 'em. It looks funny. A scene that really stood out to me in the trailer was when Amy Poehler and Dax Shepard are talking to Tina Fey...
Shepard : "When I first thought about Angie [Poehler] carrying somebody else baby, I thought my wife gotta have sex with someone else's husband to do this..."
Then at the same time Poehler says "Out of the question" and Shepard says "That's gonna cost you extra to do this......that's out of the question" HAHAHA...

6. Maid of Honor (05/02)
For Tom, life is good: he’s sexy, successful, has great luck with the ladies, and knows he can always rely on Hannah, his delightful best friend and the one constant in his life. It’s the perfect setup until Hannah goes overseas to Scotland on a six-week business trip… and Tom is stunned to realize how empty his life is without her. He resolves that when she gets back, he’ll ask Hannah to marry him – but is floored when he learns that she has become engaged to a handsome and wealthy Scotsman and plans to move overseas. When Hannah asks Tom to be her “maid” of honor, he reluctantly agrees to fill the role…but only so he can attempt to woo Hannah and stop the wedding before it’s too late.
It looks very cute! It gave me a good laugh at the theaters.

7. Sex and the City: The Movie (05/30)
Carrie is getting carried away with wedding plans, prompting yet another break-up between her and Big. Miranda dealing with Steve having an affair. Charlotte becoming pregnant. Samantha still with Smith Jarrod. Now living in Los Angeles struggling with long term commitment and marriage. Louise came to New York to fall in love.
I love the show, hope I love the movie more. So far, I'm not that big about the new character. We'll see...

8. The Happening (06/13)
A paranoid thriller in which a family must survive a global environmental crisis. Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel star as an estranged couple who must escape this apocalyptic epidemic.
Woo...Spooooky...Friday the 13th. I'm curious to know what is going on in the movie. It has got my attention.

9. Get Smart (06/20)
Film adaptation of Mel Brooks and Buck Henry's hit 1960s spy parody television show Get Smart.
Steve Carell is awesome. I love the movie's awkwardness. Can't wait for this one.

10. WALL-E (06/27)

A story of the last little robot on Earth. WALL-E is a robot and his programming was to help clean up. Set way in the future, through consumerism, rampant, unchecked consumerism, the Earth was covered with trash. And to clean up, everyone had to leave Earth and set in place millions of these little robots that went around to clean up the trash and make Earth habitable again. The cleanup program failed with the exception of this one little robot and he's left on Earth doing his duty all alone. But WALL-E falls in love with EVE, a robot from a probe that comes down to check on Earth.
It's a Disney movie...YAY! Robot Love.

11. Hancock (07/02)
An alcoholic superhero despised by everyone. A publicist helps rehabilitate him, and the superhero eventually begins an affair with the publicist's wife
About an alcoholic superhero that always messes things up. There is a scene where his publicist shows him a video that was posted on youtube. It is footage of a beach whale and Hancock shows up to save it. He grabs it by the tail and flings it out into the ocean. Well it just so happened that there was a boat and the whale landed on top of it.
Hancock: "I don't even remember that"
Publicist: "Greenpeace does"

12. Step Brothers (07/25)
Brennan Huff is a sporadically employed thirty-nine-year-old who lives with his mother, Nancy. Dale Doback is a terminally unemployed forty-year-old who lives with his father, Robert. When Robert and Nancy marry and move in together, Brennan and Dale are forced to live with each other as step brothers. As their narcissism and downright aggressive laziness threaten to tear the family apart, these two middle-aged, immature, overgrown boys will orchestrate an insane, elaborate plan to bring their parents back together. To pull it off, they must form an unlikely bond that will finally get them out of the house.
Will Ferrell and John Reilly are such a funny pair. Must See!

13. He's Just Not That into You (08/01)
The Baltimore-set movie of interconnecting story arcs deals with the challenges of reading or misreading human behavior.
Okay, so I haven't seen a trailer to this one, but I love many of the actors, especially Drew Barrymore! It sounds like a cool idea for a movie.

14. The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2 (08/08)
The Sequel of The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants based on the fourth book.
I have read all four of the books. I love every single one of them. I know I'm a dork, but whatever. I've been waiting for this movie since I saw the first one.

15. Tropic Thunder (08/15)
A group of actors filming a Vietnam War movie when their fed-up director and writer decide to dump them in the middle of a real war.
Frat Pack!

16. Yes Man (12/19)
A man decides to say yes to everything that comes his way in his life, leading to a series of comedic events.
Sounds like a funny idea. Jim Carrey is great also.

17. Parental Guidance Suggested (2008)
A sketch comedy movie about the joys and embarrassments of teen sex. But mostly the embarrassments.
I want to see this because of Michael Cera, who I adore and also I like the teen sex comedies.

18. Resident Evil: Degeneration (2008)
19. Anaconda 3: The Offspring (2008)
20. Austin Powers 4 (11/14)
These movies because I have seen the first two and three.

Save Seals From Slaughter!

I'm an animal lover, but I don't think you have to love animals to realize how cruel this is. Read it. Help out. Make a difference.

Even in an industry known for its cruelty, Canada's annual seal hunt—the largest slaughter of marine animals on the planet—stands alone for its violence and utter lack of compassion or mercy.

Hundreds of thousands of harp seals will be killed in a matter of weeks. Most of them will be less than 3 months old, and many will still be in their first weeks of life. The animals are so young and innocent that they will lie on the ice as their attackers approach. Even if they know that they should flee, their motor skills aren't yet developed enough to do so. They have no chance of escaping to the safety of the water.

The carnage begins as the seals have their heads bashed in with clubs. Still conscious, they will be dragged across the ice with boat hooks. Then these sensitive, intelligent animals will be skinned, sometimes while they are still alive. The sealers will take their fur but leave the seals' bodies on the ice to rot.

PETA and caring people like you are fighting relentlessly to protect these animals. We must pressure the Canadian government to listen to the pleas of millions of people around the world who want this annual slaughter to stop. This year, seals need your help in raising an international outcry to help end the bloody hunt.

Someday soon, Canada will look back on its seal hunt with shame. But until that day comes, it is up to caring people like you and me to come to the defense of these gentle animals.

By signing the petition, you can help us bring international condemnation to the Canadian prime minister's doorstep—a critical step in ending these atrocities.

Big Brother - Sean - Possessed Balloon

I Love Big Brother. It's my biggest obsession. This season Big Brother were pairs of two strangers that were supposedly "soul mates" and lately this season seemed like a dud. I only liked half of every team. Which made it hard to like any pair. But now, it is every man for himself. All the scheming with their partner could bite each and everyone of them in the ass. Which makes this game so much more interesting. Plus, America gets to vote one evicted house guest to come back. I hope they choose Alex. If Allison comes back i will rip out all of my hair. I can't stand "tarantula eyes"!

Any who...Sean text messaged me today, well yesterday. His anxiety attacks might bring him back home. YAY! But then again, how many times have I told myself he might be coming home and didn't??? Eighty? Ninety?

So on Valentine's Day my brother was sweet and bought me a cute heart-shaped helium balloon. It has been in my room floating in the corner for weeks. Well one night, really late, I noticed it was moving. Big deal I thought. But then, I looked at it again and the tip of the string was FLOATING!!! And then the balloon started to lower and out of nowhere it began moving around VERY FAST. Like wtf? It's possessed! I know it. My brother bought me the balloon from hell. Anyways, I ran out and slept [well hung out - I don't sleep much] in the living room. Well the next night, I decided to dump the balloon in my brother's room while they were sleeping. My dad was the only one that knew what I did. Well, being the loving father that he is and knowing that the balloon freaks me out. He tied the string to my doorknob. In the morning when I went to make some breakfast, I opened my door, only to find the demonic balloon flying at my face. Pleasant treat. So i decided to find my scissors and stab the shit out of that thing!

My brothers [Tom & Mike - they're twins] love to watch things over and over and over. So annoying! Lately, they keep watching MTV's America's Best Dance Crew. One of the talents is a crew called Jabbawockeez. I hope they win it, they are so good. Everything they do is so new and creative. They WOW me every time. Watching them on repeat isn't much of a torture. If you haven't seen them. Check them out. They are AMAZING!

Should vegetarians eat animal crackers?

YAY!

One year without meat! Congrats to me. My dad told me he will celebrate with a juicy steak. Nice of him that he is still supportive.

Out of my mind...Back in 5 minutes.

Wow. I'm on the verge of passing out. All day I've felt lightheaded and uneasy. When I get up too fast I have my typical blood rushing to the head i get a little dizzy and my vision goes completely black. But now ...

The black vision lasts A LOT longer and my body starts to shake violently and it's not just when I get up, when I'm standing...sitting...eating...typing! And I've been slightly hallucinating. It's freaking me out.

Well Sean called his mom and she e-mailed me and told me that he has been getting anxiety attacks on a daily basis. I feel so bad that I can't do anything to help. I wish there was something I could do.

To lighten the move. How 'bout I finish with some blonde jokes. I was born blonde so I believe I have the right to repeat it. 'Cause it's part of my heritage JayKay

  • The assistant asked the blonde if she would like her pizza cut into six pieces or twelve. "Six please" she said, "I could never eat twelve!"
  • Two blondes were walking down the street. One noticed a compact on the sidewalk and leaned down to pick it up. She opened it, looked in the mirror and said, "Hmm, this person looks familiar." The second blonde said, "Here, let me see!" So the first blonde handed her the compact. The second one looked in the mirror and said, "You dummy, it's me!
  • A blonde suspected her boyfriend of cheating on her, so she went out and bought a gun. She went to his apartment unexpectedly and when she opened the door she found him in the arms of a redhead. Well, the blonde is really angry. She opened her purse to take out the gun, and as she does so, she is overcome with grief. She took the gun and put it to her own head. The boyfriend yelled, "No, honey, don't do it!!!" The blonde replied, "Shut up ... You're next!"
  • A blonde asked someone what time it was, and they told her it was 4:45. The blonde, with a puzzled look on her face replied, "You know, it's the weirdest thing, I have been asking that question all day, and each time I get a different answer."
  • What did the blonde ask her doctor when he told her she was pregnant? "Is it mine?"
  • A blonde with two red ears went to her doctor. The doctor asked her what had happened to her ears. She answered, "I was ironing a shirt and the phone rang, but instead of picking up the phone, I accidentally picked up the iron and stuck it to my ear." "Oh dear!" the doctor exclaimed in disbelief. "But what happened to the other ear?" "The son of a bitch called back!"

On the other hand, you have different fingers.

"War, huh, yeah
What is it good for
Absolutely nothing!"

-Edwin Starr.

I intend to live forever - so far so good.

Today I am trying really hard to stay awake so I can sleep at night. I still haven't heard from Sean and I really miss him. I can't believe he has been gone for more than 3 months now. It wasn't suppose to be this long. I really hope he comes home soon. When I see him, I'm pretty sure I'm going to start crying. Just thinking about seeing him again makes me cry [of joy of course!]. I love Sean no matter what ends up happening. Haven't hung out with Adriana in such a LoooooooooNG time. Every time we actually plan a get together. Something gets in the way. Oh well. "Shit happens" I think CENSORED#1 is fake. annoying. a bitch. and a slut! CENSORED#2 is a nasty horndog, but even he could to better than CENSORED#1. Well, take that back. CENSORED#2 has nothing good going for him, maybe his eyes but that's about it.
Right now I'm also chatting with Carolina. Sounds like she has got an ATTITUDE. When doesn't she. JayKay! I trust her, but to a certain extent. She has a tendency to pass along gossip. Without Carolina, I would probably be DEAD or COMPLETELY INSANE by now. She really is a good friend. Everyone has their flaws. Yesterday had the strangest ending. My dad decided to start the usual drama when I chose not to hangout with the family and go bowling. How am I suppose to enjoy something if I am forced to go? [hello SCHOOL ring a bell] Anyways, we argued back and forth. Finally, my dad realized he doesn't try hard enough to communicate with me. He asked in a calm and understanding tone if I would go bowling and I surrendered. I got up to get my stuff thinking he left. I walk to the door and he turns around and hugs me. I could hear him crying and he told me he knows he hasn't been the best father he could be and he loves me and he just wants me to be happy. He claims he is going to work on our relationship so we can be more civil towards one another. So far we have been, but its only been about 27 hours. Lets see how this works out...I think it will last about a week, but we will see.

Last night I saw my great aunt and uncle. They moved to Arizona a couple years ago and I haven't seen them since we last visited 2 years ago!! Since I'm not working or going to school [I know - BUM] I am gonna visit them for like a week or something. Sounds fun-ish. At least I don't have to drive there for 8 hours straight squished between my two [overweight and smelly] brothers listening to "ABC" by Jackson 5 on repeat. I didn't care for the song before, but after hearing the screechy voice 2000 times in a row. DRIVES ME CRAZY!

To-Do
  • Finally Sign Adriana's Yearbook. I feel so GUILTY.
  • Clean my bedroom. It is long overdue for a cleaning.
  • Get Birthday gift for Sean.

Popping my blogging cherry.

So this is my first blog. What should I say?

Lets start off with "Hi [insert your name here]. My name is Danielle."

Well i created this blog to let out all of my emotions instead of building them up inside. Also, to keep track of what is going on with my life. If anyone actually reads this, that's cool i guess. but it will probably end up very boring and you must really not have a life. Just kidding...

Currently. I'm an emotional wreck. I haven't seen and rarely get to talk to my boyfriend in over 3 months. He is in San Antonio, Texas for basic military training [Air Force]. If you are familiar with it you're probably wondering why 3 months, its only a 6 week process. Well Sean [for the slower people - that's my bf] injured his knee and has been in the medical squadron for 2 months trying to get out and now they are probably going to send him back into training. Bummer. Anyways I really miss him. My dad is CRAZY! He is extremely verbally abusive. What he says really does get to me. Everything that comes out of his mouth is either a complaint, racist remark, or a brutal attack to my self esteem. My friends are only partially there for me. I [used] have two best friends. One is ALWAYS at work and the other is kinda fair weathered. Lately she doesn't seem to be making an effort to hangout with me. And whenever I want to talk about an issue in my life. She pays no attention or cuts me off to start talking about something that happened to her. Right now, I'm reevaluating my friends. Debating which are true and which are using me. Any who all these things contribute to my emotional roller coaster. Enjoy!

That's enough I'm tired. I'll get started tomorrow.
